• You should tell them what they need to know without overwhelming them with the truth. For example, if you had a serious past relationship, you can let them know without revealing every little detail about your ex.
• Temper your honesty with kindness. Don't feel as if you have to make every response seem like a compliment. Instead, offer an alternative. For example, if they ask you if you like something they are trying on, let her know that it might work, but you think the blue one is your favorite so far because it shows off their great eyes and their stunning personality.
• You should not only be comfortable with being honest, but you should be accepting of their honesty as well. If you want to be a good boyfriend, you should be able to handle the truth.

Trust them. Trust your partner and give them a reason to trust you. Trust should form the foundation of your relationship. • Obviously, there will be occasions when you do talk a lot (such as when something exciting or important happens) or when you retreat a bit (such as when something bad happens). On the whole, though, aim for a balance of the conversation.

Be a good listener. Instead of thinking about the next thing, you want to say, or something else entirely, focus on listening to them. Think about what they are saying. Always seem interested and fully engaged in their presence.[6] X Research source
• Remember, a conversation with your partner isn't just acknowledging, it's also about remembering. If your partner is telling you about an important experience, make a mental note of it.
• If they've told you something twice before and you have no idea what they're talking about because you weren't really listening, they"ll know and they won't be happy about it.
• "Listen" to their non-verbal "conversations" as well. Learn to tell when something is bothering them even when they won't say it. What does their expression, their body language, or even the way they keep twirling their hair tell you?

 ২৮ সেপ্টেম্বর বঙ্গবন্ধু কন্যা, প্রধানমন্ত্রী জননেত্রী শেখ হাসিনার ৭০ তম জন্মদিন। জাতির পিতার জন্মস্থান গোপালগঞ্জের টুঙ্গিপাড়াতেই ১৯৪৭ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন তিনি। পিতার মতো গ্রামের সবুজ শ্যামল ছায়াশীতল পরিবেশে বেড়ে উঠেছেন তিনি। আত্মীয় স্বজন ও নিকটজনদের কাছে পরিচিত হাসু নামে। শৈশব কৈশোর কেটেছে বাইগার নদীর ঢেউ আর পাখির কলকাকলিতে, মেঠো পথের আকাঁ-বাঁকা সৌন্দর্যে। দাদা-দাদি, মা আর আত্মীয় স্বজনদের কাছেই তাঁর বড় হওয়া।

বাবার সাথে কমই দেখা হত। জন্মের সময় বঙ্গবন্ধু ছিলেন কলকাতায়, দেখতে পারেন জন্মের বেশ পরে। বাবাকে কাছে পেলে কিছুতে ছাঁড়তে চাইতেন না, পিতার কোলে বসে গল্প শুনতে খুব ভালবাসতেন। কিন্তু পিতা ব্যস্ত রাজনীতিতে নতুবা পাকিস্তানি শাসকের রোষানলে বন্দি জেলখানায়। গ্রামের মাটি ঘাস রোদেই কেটেছে স্বপ্নময় দিনগুলি। প্রকৃতির নিবিড় ভালবাসায় হয়ে উঠেছেন মমতাময়ী, পিতার অনুপস্থিতি ভুলে থেকেছেন।

গ্রামের পাঠশালায় প্রথম শিক্ষাজীবন শুরু। ঢাকায় আসেন পিতা প্রাদেশিক পরিষদের সদস্য (এমপিএ) হবার পর, সেই ১৯৫৪ সালে। থাকা শুরু হয় পুরনো ঢাকার মোগলটুলির রজনী বোস লেনের বাসায়। বঙ্গবন্ধু মন্ত্রী হবার পর ৩ নম্বর মিন্টো রোডের সরকারি বাসভবনে থাকতে থাকেন। ১৯৫৬ সালে শেখ হাসিনা ভর্তি হন টিকাটুলির নারীশিক্ষা মন্দির বালিকা বিদ্যালয়ে এবং ১৯৬১ সালের ১ অক্টোবর ধানমন্ডির ৩২ নম্বর রোডের বাড়িটির দ্বার উদঘাটন হয়।

শহুরে পরিবেশের চাইতে মন পড়ে থাকত সেই বাইগার নদীর ধারে, ছুটি পেলেই সবাই চলে যেতেন গ্রামের বাড়ি টুঙ্গিপাড়ায়। শহর থেকে গ্রামে যেতেই তিনি বেশী আগ্রহী হতেন। গ্রাম তাকে টানত। সে কথা নিজেই লিখেছেন তাঁর রচনাসমগ্রে।

’৬৫ সালে শেখ হাসিনা আজিমপুর বালিকা বিদ্যালয় থেকে মাধ্যমিক পরীক্ষা পাশ করেন আর ’৬৭ সালে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক পাশ করেন ঢাকার বকশী বাজারের পূর্বতন ইন্টারমিডিয়েট গভর্নমেন্ট গার্লস কলেজ (বর্তমান বদরুন্নেসা সরকারি মহিলা মহাবিদ্যালয়) থেকে। প্রধানমন্ত্রী হয়ে সেই আজিমপুর বালিকা বিদ্যালয়েকে তিনি সরকারীকরণ করে দিয়েছেন।

স্কুল-কলেজ জীবন থেকেই মিছিলে গেছেন, রাজনীতির হাতেখড়ি পরিবারেই, বড় হয়েছেন রাজনৈতিক পরিবার ও পরিবেশে। কলেজে অধ্যয়নকালে তিনি কলেজ ছাত্রী সংসদের সহ-সভানেত্রী পদে নির্বাচিত হন। কলেজে শহীদ মিনার স্থাপনের জন্য সেসময় তিনি ছাত্রীদের নিয়ে আন্দোলন করেছেন। ১৯৬৭ সালেই ভর্তি হন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে বাংলা বিভাগে, রোকেয়া হলে ছাত্রলীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক ছিলেন, অংশ নিয়েছেন আইয়ুব-বিরোধী আন্দোলন এবং ৬ দফা আন্দোলনে। কারাবন্দি পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধুর আগ্রহে পরমাণু বিজ্ঞানী ড. এম. এ ওয়াজেদ মিয়ার সাথে শেখ হাসিনার বিয়ে হয় ১৯৬৮ সালে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় ধানমন্ডির ১৮ নম্বর সড়কের একটি বাড়িতে মা-বোনসহ বন্দী ছিলেন। প্রথম সন্তান সজীব ওয়াজেদের জন্ম মুক্তিযুদ্ধের মধ্যেই। মা বেগম ফজিলাতুন্নেছাকে মেয়েকে হাসপাতালে দেখতে যেতে দেয়নি পাক বাহিনী। দেশ স্বাধীন হবার পর তারা মুক্তি পান।

১৯৭৫ সালের ১৫ আগস্ট ইতিহাসের বর্বরোচিত হত্যাকাণ্ডে যখন জাতির পিতাসহ পরিবারের বাকী সদস্যদের নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করা হয় তখন তিনি ও ছোটবোন শেখ রেহানা জার্মানি থাকায় প্রাণে বেঁচে যান। পিতার মৃত্যুর পর শুরু নতুন সংগ্রাম।চেনা মুখ চেনা দেশ পাল্টে যায়, চেনা জীবন হয়ে উঠে বেদনার, দেশে ফিরতে বাধা, শুরু হয় অনিশ্চয়তার জীবন। ঠাঁই হয় ভারতে, ছোট বোন যান লন্ডনে। লন্ডনে তারা পিতার মৃত্যুর বিচারের দাবী তুলেন কিন্তু দেশে আসতে পারেন নি। দেশে আসতে বাধা দেয়া হয়, তবে তাঁর স্বদেশ ফেরা ঠেকানো সম্ভব হয়নি। ছয় বছর নির্বাসিত জীবন শেষ হয় ১৯৮১ সালে। ১৯৮১ সালের ১৪-১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি আওয়ামী লীগের দ্বি-বার্ষিক সম্মেলনে শেখ হাসিনার অনুপস্থিতিতে সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে শেখ হাসিনাকে দলের সভাপতি নির্বাচিত করা হয়।

১৯৮১ সালের ১৭ মে দেশে ফিরে আসেন শেখ হাসিনা। সেদিন তিনি বলেছিলেন, “আমি ক্ষমতার জন্য রাজনীতিতে আসিনি, বাংলার মানুষের পাশে থেকে মু্ক্তির সংগ্রামে অংশ নেওয়ার জন্য আমি এসেছি।” সমালোচকদের জবাবে বলেছিলেন, “রাজনীতি আমার রক্তে মেশানো।” দেশে ফেরার পরে থেকেই নিরলসভাবে দেশের মানুষের জন্য রাজনীতি করে যাচ্ছেন। গৃহবন্দী করা হয়, জেলে পাঠানো হয় অনৈতিকভাবে, কিন্তু কোন ঘাত প্রতিঘাত তাঁকে দমাতে পারেনি। ১৯ বার তাকে হত্যার চেষ্টা করা হয়, বাংলার মানুষের ভালবাসায় তিনি প্রাণে বেঁচে যান। আঘাত আসলেও তিনি কখন মাথা নত করেননি। দীর্ঘ একুশ বছর পর ১৯৯৬ সালে দলকে সরকারে আনেন তিনি। দেশে গণতন্ত্র পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠিত করেন। দেশের মানুষের ভাগ্যের উন্নয়ন করেন।

তিনি কখনই বিচলিত নন। ২০০১ সালের নির্বাচনে আওয়ামী লীগকে ষড়যন্ত্রের মাধ্যমে হারানো হলে দলের নেতাকর্মীদের উপর জোট সরকারের অত্যাচার নিযার্তন শুরু হয়। ২০০৪ সালের গ্রেনেড মেরে শেখ হাসিনাকে হত্যার চেষ্টা চালানো হয়। সে হামলায় দলের নেতাকর্মীদের মানববর্ম শেখ হাসিনাকে প্রাণে বাঁচালেও আওয়ামী লীগ মহিলা সম্পাদক আইভী রহমানসহ ২৪ জনকে প্রাণ দিতে হয়েছে। দমে যাননি শেখ হাসিনা। বরাবরের মতোই শোককে শক্তিতে পরিণত করে জনগণের কল্যাণে নিজেকে রেখেছে অটল। নিজ মুখেই শেখ হাসিনা বলেছেন: “আল্লাহ ছাড়া কাউকে ভয় পাই না। বাবার মতো দেশের কল্যাণে আমিও রক্ত দিতে প্রস্তুত।”

সড়ক ও জনপদ কর্তৃপক্ষের তদারকির অভাবে বরিশাল শহরের দক্ষিণপ্রান্তের শহীদ আব্দুর রব সেরনিয়াবাত (দপদপিয়া) সেতু সংলগ্ন খায়রাবাদ সেতু রাতের বেলা যানবাহন চলাচল ক্রমশই ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠেছে। সেতুটি ২৪টি লাইটপোস্টের সকল বাতি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে বিকল থাকার কারণে যেকোন সময়ে বড় ধরনের দুর্ঘটনার আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে।

সেতু লাগোয় বাসিন্দা ও পরিবহন সংশ্লিষ্টরা জানান, বিষয়টি সম্পর্কে সড়ক ও জনপদ কর্তৃপক্ষ অবহিত থাকলেও কার্যকরী কোন উদ্যোগ নিচ্ছেনা। এমনকি সেতু ইজারাদার প্রতিষ্ঠানের পক্ষ থেকে পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের আবেদন করা হলে তাতেও কোন সুফল আসছে না। ফলে রাতের বেলা সেতুটির পরিবেশ ভুতুরে বলে অভিযোগ রয়েছে। সরেজমিনে দেখা গেছে, পুরো সেতু জুড়ে কোনো বৈদ্যুতিক আলো সরবরাহ নেই। সন্ধ্যার অন্ধকার নামার পর দপদপিয়া সেতু থেকে চলাচলকারী জনসাধারণ আতংক নিয়েই চলাফেরা করতে বাধ্য হচ্ছেন। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা অভিযোগ কহরে, আলো না থাকার সুযোগে সেতুর ওপর জমায়েত ঘটে আশেপাশের এলাকার অন্ধকার প্রিয় মাদক ব্যবসায়ী ও মাদকসেবী চক্রের। তাছাড়া পুলিশেরও কোনো নজরদারি না থাকার কারণে রাতের আঁধারে সেতু এলাকায় এক শ্রেণির বখাটে আর ছিনতাইকারীর স্বর্গরাজ্যে পরিণত হয়। যার ফলে দপদপিয়া সেতুতে ঘুরতে আসা বিনোদন পিয়াসীরা পায়ে হেঁটে সেতু পার হলে অথবা কেউ ছোট যানবাহনে (ব্যাটারিচালিত অটোরিকশা, টেম্পু ও মোটরসাইকেল) যাতায়াত করলে তাদের সর্বস্ব লুটে নেয়া হচ্ছে।

সূত্রমতে, সড়ক পথে বরিশাল-ঝালকাঠি-নলছিটি-পটুয়াখালী-কুয়াকাটসহ পাঁচ জেলার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পর্যটন স্পটে যাতায়াতের পথ দপদপিয়া সেতু সংলগ্ন খায়রকবাদ সেতু বৈদ্যুতিক আলোহীন ঘুঁটঘুঁটে অন্ধকার বিরাজ করায় সাধারণ পথচারীরা গাড়ির নিচে চাঁপা পড়ে যেকোনো সময় বড়ধরনের দুর্ঘটনার শিকার হতে পারে। সূত্রে আরও জানা গেছে, প্রায় আড়াই বছর আগে আব্দুর রব সেরনিয়াবাত সেতু ও খায়রাবাদ সেতুর বিদ্যুৎ সরবরাহ লাইন বিচ্ছিন্ন করে প্রায় আড়াই লাখ টাকার বৈদ্যুতিক তার চুরি করে নিয়েছে সংঘবদ্ধ চোরচক্র। এরপর থেকে আব্দুর রব সেরনিয়াবাত সুতুর বৈদ্যুতিক লাইন সচল করা হলেও সচল করা হয়নি খায়রাবাদ সেতুর লাইটপোস্ট গুলু যার ফলে সবগুলো লাইটপোস্টের আলো সরবরাহ বন্ধ হয়ে রয়েছে।
